These are formed where the TROPICAL TROPOPAUSE and the POLAR TROPOPAUSE meet, but at different heights; a large temperature differential results. In this zone, the JET STREAM will occur, with core winds in excess of 60 kts. Serious CAT (Clear Air Turbulence) is common in the area around the jet stream.
