What Is Jojoba Oil?
Answer:
Jojoba oil is the liquid wax produced in the seed of the jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) plant, a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. The oil makes up approximately 50% of the jojoba seed by weight. It is similar to the skin’s own sebum. It contains a substance, similar to collagen, which gives skin a silky smooth feel.
Jojoba oil penetrates deeply to increase skin softness and reduce superficial lines and wrinkles for several hours after use. It seems that the reason jojoba works so well is that the skin accepts it as sebum and allows it to penetrate. Useful for acne, eczema, hair condition, inflamed skin, and psoriasis.
Refined jojoba has been deodorized and bleached, but there is no need for this as a cold-pressed, natural, golden jojoba has no discernible scent and adds a lovely golden tint to toiletries.
