Where Is Micronesia and What Is It Known For?
Answer:
Micronesia, officially the Federated States of Micronesia, is an independent, sovereign island nation, made up of four states from west to east: Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. It comprises over six hundred atolls and islands, spread across 2,500 kilometers of the western central Pacific Ocean, just north of the equator. A third of the population lives on Pohnpei.
The climate is tropical, with heavy rainfall. Fishing and subsistence farming are the main activities. Fish, garments and bananas are the main exports. Income is also derived from the licensing of foreign fishing fleets and tourism. From seeing a traditional village dance, taking a hike to a secluded lake or waterfall, or making a dive beneath the sea to a coral laden shipwreck, there's something for every adventuresome taste.
