What Is Organic Food?
Answer:
If you’re concerned about chemicals in your food, try to buy organic. Organic food is food which has been produced to standards designed to keep the production more 'natural'. Fewer, if any, chemicals are used and most pesticides are banned — when they are used they are very carefully controlled.
Organic farmers can only use four out of the hundreds of available pesticides (and as a last resort), and they don’t use veterinary medicines on animals as a preventative measure — only when animals are actually ill. You won’t find any genetically modified (GM) ingredients, hydrogenated fats, the artificial sweetener aspartame or monosodium glutamate in organic foods, and other additives are minimized.
