What Is Osteoporosis?
Answer:
Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and loss of bone tissue. Usually, the loss of bone occurs over many years, putting you at increased risk for fractures.
Early in the course of the disease osteoporosis may cause no symptoms. Later, you may feel dull pain in the bones or muscles, particularly lower back or neck pain. The pain may not radiate, or it may be made worse by activity that puts weight on the area. Alternatively, it may be accompanied by tenderness, with lingering pain.
