What Are Fibroids?
Answer:
Fibroids are an overgrowth of the muscle tissue of the uterus (the womb), present in 25 percent of women in their reproductive years. They are noncancerous and usually decrease in size after menopause.
Symptoms include heavier menstruation and they are a potential cause for recurrent miscarriages if they distort the cavity inside the uterus. They are usually detected incidentally during routine gynecological examination.
