What Is Zucchini?
Answer:
Zucchini is a type of summer squash. You may also know zucchini as a “courgette,” depending on where in the world you live. This hardy squash grows readily in a range of environments, and it has a broad assortment of uses, from sweet zucchini bread to raw “pasta” made from zucchini strips. Many markets carry zucchini in the summer, and it is also a snap to grow at home, although some caution is advised, as zucchini plants can produce way more squash than one would think is physically possible.
Zucchinis are long or rounded. They range in color from mottled greens to the less-common yellows. Hybrids that are varied in hues and shape are appearing at markets as well. The Italian cocozelle species is rounder, shorter, and is striped.
It can either be yellow or green and generally has a similar shape to a ridged cucumber, though a few cultivars are available that produce round or bottle-shaped fruit. Unlike the cucumber it is usually served cooked, often steamed or grilled.
